This quirky interpretation of the Australian landscape is created solely from imagination. The technique began one day when the weather was too hot for plein air painting and I began experimenting in the studio. I somehow recall upon the child within and using a sharp tool, scratch a whimsical composition into a semi-wet underpainting. Then using fast drying oil paints I apply subdued colors throughout. This layer of paint is well textured, dries quickly and therefore ready for the final stage - Glazing with transparent colors which emphasizes texture and increases saturation.
